How do I avoid the risk of double clear to the door?
"Double clear to the door" is one of the products promoted by many freight forwarding companies, which can provide convenience for cargo owners and have a good profit for freight forwarding. In the general understanding, "double clear to the door" is to sign a contract with the freight agent, the goods to the freight agent after all the affairs are handled by the freight agent, peace of mind waiting for the goods can be sent to the door, but the actual situation is far more complex.
In order to discuss the risk of LTL transportation, we must first make the premise that "double clearance to door transportation" is not the normal situation in the industry. Suppliers who export "sensitive" goods prefer shuangqing to the door. The supplier understands the risk of this shipment, and the freight forwarder naturally understands the risk of this shipment, but everyone takes risks.
One of the important reasons is that the goods arriving at the door through double clearance are usually transported in LCL. In order to smoothly pass through customs for "sensitive" goods with high freight, some forwarders may load sensitive goods first before loading normal goods. At that time, when the container is inspected by customs, the normal goods will also be "sitting together" in the cabinet.
How to avoid the risk of double clearance to the door?
Start with the selection, choose reliable partners
First of all, a comprehensive credit check of the freight forwarder prior to working with them can help the owner weed out a number of "untrustworthy at first glance" companies. For example, if a new carrier has been the defendant in several carrier contract disputes in the past year, would you still work with them?
Second, when choosing a carrier, do not be tempted by unreasonably low prices. When market conditions are relatively stable, low prices are a sign of risk. Cake and trap often go hand in hand.
Finally, in view of the double clear to the door transportation mode, the goods mainly get rid of the idea of "all problems to the forwarder". Even if the contract is perfectly signed, you need evidence to support your claim if something goes wrong. Before handing over the goods to the forwarder, the owner must do the following things:
1. Keep a close eye on the shipment of goods and require the freight forwarder to provide complete information on carriers and containers;
2. Keep the delivery documents of the goods and truthfully declare the value of the goods;
3. Follow the transportation of the goods regularly and keep the transportation records provided by the freight forwarder.
