What does flushing goods mean in the context of international logistics?
When trading with other countries, all goods entering or leaving the country must be declared to Customs. However, it's hard to declare certain goods using the standard process. This includes items that are charged, branded goods, or goods without the proper import or export documents. Some people try to avoid these rules by providing false information, hiding their goods, or using other unethical methods. This practice is called "washout."
The most common way of passing goods through customs is to mix them with other goods and hide them. People mix prohibited goods with ordinary goods (like sofas, boxing targets, and wall hangings) to confuse the customs officers.
Hide the pin: For example, goods with a license may be declared as unlicensed goods for export without permission.
Changing the name of the goods: To avoid a strict inspection of certain products (like electrically charged products and A-risk goods), the name of the product is changed on purpose.
One way to pay less in customs taxes is to understate the value of your goods. For example, if you have goods worth tens of thousands of yuan, you can declare them to be worth a few thousand yuan.
